You lot ARE a cheerful bunch, I must say! I find lots to smile about when I cruise through these boards!
we try..I like to think of it as a Shinedown family. How are you today?

Yup. New to these boards, ponied up the $35 to be an official fan club member so I can have first dibs on show tickets et al. I'm a happy camper, generally. Lately out I/T dept at work has been sabotaging all web site access to anything fun, so fortunately, I CAN get on here for entertainment at odd points throughout the day.

Been loving Shinedown for about a year - so, not only new to the boards, but relatively new to Shinedown.

Don't hate me cuz I'm new - I'm pretty rabid about them now!

First show was last summer at Pain in the Grass - knew I'd love them, had memorized Sound of Madness album, and befriended the guys on myspace. Got to vistit with Zach and Eric after their set - very cool guys!

Looking forward to spending more quality time with them and the music at the Ridgefield show this August! Wish they were playing closer to Seattle, but oh well - glad they are coming back to the northwest. We love them out here!

I'm starting to get frustrated with the amount of Draws my sounders have been aquiring... they can't seem to finish... i went to their home game on Wednesday(coolest thing ever BTW) and we were up 3-1 after 70ish minutes...
i wish they could do better... they are one of the best teams in the MLS... and they just had ANOTHER draw tonight... that makes 7 on the season

yeah, i was thinking he might do well... i kinda hoping he would play so he could lose to federer.... i LOVE roger... one of my fav athletes of all time...

this is a really hard question for me... only because there are so many sports out there... but here a few right off the top of my head...

Seattle Seahawks (that's right a 12th man here)

Seattle Sounders FC

Detroit Pistons (for some reason they are my BBall team)

Seattle Mariners (even though i watch baseball in a minimal amount)

My two college teams for life will always be in any sport:
West Virginia Mountaineers
Oregon Ducks

I don't really have a hockey team, but if i were to pick...
Vancouver Canucks

As for all time favorite sport... i think it would be a tie between American football and Soccer(real football)
but it's always changing... during american football season it's definitely in charge of my schedule(especially if the Hawks are doing good)

Soccer - Glasgow Rangers

The Flyers will have deal a couple of their forwards to have any room, the Red Wings will have a bunch of notables and Zetterberg as UFAs, the Rangers are right up against the cap, I have to wonder if any of the bad teams with room will make any kind of splash or if they can't afford to sign them if the NHLPA will have to contemplate another salary cut, like after the lock out. I highly doubt that, but that would certainly help out the reckless spending the GMs of New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, Detroit, Montreal, and soon to be Toronto and the other big spenders who will or already have signed themselves into. i think this will kill professional sports, what happened to playing to win??
football will be destroyed like baseball next year with the no cap it will be a 1v1 Dallas vs Washington..

I would love to see that happen. But this is pure utopia as this would be stuck down by any court (even in Canada) as trying to control a market.

Let's be honest, in any given sector (Sports, Entertainment, Corporate Business, Management, etc...) its really the demand that sets how overpaid its players are =)

Therefore, its our fault they are millionaires!

A lot of teams face the same crisis the Habs will face.
Not at all, came out very well. A little nit picky that you corrected Chris Higgins with Christopher Higgins (I'm lazy and didn't want to type out that whole name) that would be like me saying his name is Danny (or Daniel) Briere if someone wrote Dan Briere. Anyways, do you not think adding Lecavalier would seriously crap out the cap for the Habs? Then keeping key pieces of the future like Price, Komaserek (spelling is wrong I know, I'm not looking it up, too lazy) would be much more difficult. The cap is rumored to be going down, so Tampa (despite what the GM is saying) will probably want to unload Lecavalier if there's a deal that tickles him right, and what the Habs are offering is pretty tempting. If I were Bob Gainey and had the immense pressure of the Montreal fan base and media and wanted to win NOW and to hell with next year, I would make the deal. However, if you gave me any time to think about it I would say the Canadiens have a strong chance to win the East right now and for many years to come...just as long as Price doesn't shit the bed like he did against Philly last year.
My apology. I quoted Chris Higgins' name to Christopher Higgins not to correct it (you had it right, friend) but to emphasize that his name is English sounding in a predominantely French area as opposed to Vincent Lecavalier. And it's a really important aspect of this whole question. I can't stress that enough.

As for the financial aspect, I'll research it... I don't know the maths, other than he's worth something like 10MM$ US a year, but that his contract structure's only like 7.9MM$ US. Higgins & co. are worth somewhere around ~4.5MM as of today. Habs have 10 players that will be, in one form or another, free agents by July 1st and, among them, Komisarek, Koivu, Higgins, Kovalev (let's not forget Kovy. he's old, but he's half this team's heart) and Hamirlk....

That's gonna be a real headache for Bob Gainey

Hey Habs fan, question. Do you want Lecavalier or would you rather the Habs hold onto Chris Higgins (the oft rumored trade bait) and the other young guys rumored to be in the deal? Adding Lecavalier to the Canadiens would make their offensive lines sick, SICK I say!
Higgins was our first draft pick in 2002 (14th or 15th overall - someone correct me on that). He's a power forward with a demented wrist short Viktor Tikonov would have been proud of back when the Red Army were the ultimate in that domain, back in the late 80's. He's a fair skater and has a good sense of the game. I personally find him a tad weak when fore checking and lacking in toughness, but he makes up with natural skills and being a left-hander, which makes him invaluable, especially in PP and PK situations. He's certainly in the top 200 players in this league, in my humble opinion.

However, his name is "Christopher Higgins".

I don't think they will keep everyone, but keeping the essential guys will be key and then trying to keep some of the energy guys for much less. I think they should keep Hudler and take their chances on letting Samuelsson go. But I would say not to keep Hossa, let him go and re-sign some more core guys and shop for a goalie. Craig Anderson will be a free agent and he probably won't be that expensive. He's a decent goalie, and decent goalies on the Red Wings turn into All-Stars or Hall of Famers (Chris Osgood?).
nice call, but see i just have a huge feeling zetterberg will leave, and sign for a team like Vancouver or Edmonton who will give him 9-10 million a season. And i think hossa will stay for about 7, but thats my feeling. And Anderson is a great goalie, i seen on ESPN he stopped 50 shots for a shut out the other night. Plus the panthers have Vulkon.

well I believe they have about 15 million not sure though..
and zetterberg is currently about 3 million, Hudler 1 million, franzen 1 million, and Samuelson is about 1.3, all but Samuelson is expected to rise. Franzen they say will probably seek 4 million, Zetterberg 7-10, Hudler 2 million. So if thats true they will probably only be able to sign those players, no hossa but if they can get hossa for 7 million and zetterberg for 7, that means only Samuelson they can resign. And no goalies, and Franzen is a big body and pretty good scorer, and Hudler has been outstanding this season. And they direly need a goalie, so how will this work out?

Personally i think Zetterberg will be greedy and want 8-10 million and we will resign hossa..but who knows?

I think their defense is too good to struggle next year. Their second defensive pairing (Kronwall, Stuart...but you knew that) is a number one defensive pairing on most other teams. That and Datsyuk and Zetterberg are two of the best two way players in the league.

And if Hossa does leave next year, they'll have some cash to sign a better goalie and re-sign Zetterberg (BIG!) Plus they play in a weak, weak division.
I love hockey, the Philadelphia Flyers are my team. I do have to say I thank the Red Wings for beating the Penguins last year in the Finals. I can't stand Sydney Crosby. The only other sport I watch consistently is football (pro and college) I'm a Miami Dolphins fan (hooray we're good this year!) and I like Navy in college.

Anyways, I have a Red Wings question for all you Wings fans. What do you think is the Wings biggest weakness this season? I have to say goaltending, Chris Osgood is good and has three cup to show for it (one as a backup) but if he falters Ty Conklin isn't exactly a Hasek-like replacement.

Go Flyers!
well see im a wings fan, and have since 99.
But i say all the time they will not win the cup this year, everyone of my friends if back to back. They have an amazing D and offense but where it matters is the goalies. Look at Pittsburgh, Fluerry took Detroit to 3 OT's with 20 shots each, and osgood takes 6 shots and on a cheap one he lets it in. I think detroit will struggle next year, with goalies and salary cap. They wont have hossa next year, and they probably want have either Hudler or Samuellson, and they need a goalie.

And for conklin i like him but he cant be a starter goalie we need a number 1, so conklin for backup and get rid of os-shit :)
haha

My wife is from Detroit, so I've got to be a Red Wings fan. I've only recently begun to get in to hockey. We of course have the Atlanta Thrashers here, but I prefer going to the Gwinnett Gladiators games (IHL) over the Thrashers. My girls caught three game pucks last season at the Gladiators.
