Lyrics:

Send away for a priceless gift
One not subtle, one not on the list
Send away for a perfect world
One not simply so absurd
In these times of doing what you’re told
Keep these feelings, no one knows
Whatever happened to the young man’s heart?
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart

And I’m staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
There’s no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45

Send a message to the unborn child
Keep your eyes open for a while
In a box high up on the shelf, left for you, no one else
There’s a piece of a puzzle known as life
Wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight

Whatever happened to the young man’s heart?
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart

And I’m staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
There’s no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45

Everyone’s pointing their fingers
Always condemning me
And nobody knows what I believe
I believe

And I’m staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
There’s no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45
And I’m staring down the barrel of a 45
And I’m swimming through the ashes of another life
There’s no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45

there are alot of emotions tied up here. Emotions that at one time or an other all have felt; and some live everyday. There is also a hidden promise of hope. People hope regardless of their situations even when they are at deaths door. We live in a time of change. Go forward, or go back to some simpler lives...or just pass.My grown children laugh at me for listening to this and seeing or feeling things theyuthings they dont. But my grandchildren see,,and they feel, they care and are wise beyond their years. They will be long time listeners to your music.

No one knows the pain of losing a child until it happens, but I must say, you have taken a tragedy and turned it around..and I'm blown away with "The Crow Chasing a Butterfly" and "Breaking Inside"...it takes someone who has lived it to realize that there is thoughts from "45" to acknowledging the guilt in "Breaking Inside" to living everyday in "Breaking Inside" with the guilt that you had no control over...to soaring in "Second Chance" to become the parent or what ever you want to insert to "If You Only Knew" to tribute your long ass road from one end to the other, thanking God and man, woman or substance, to know that you have come from the brink and have conquered the demons that live inside to celebrating life and success and happiness....SHINEDOWN is about my life story...following from the beginning to the present, excited to know what's about to happen, happy to know that I can follow a path that is LONG overdue to be told, happy that I can relate to the very souls that speak from my heart, and know that I will have a voice...Thank You, Thank You~~:>)
