The song Sound of Madness.

Everytime I listen to Sound of Madness I can't help but be a little bothered by the lines, "Oh my here we go, another loose cannon gone bipolar" and "You think that by crying to me Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe, You've been infected by a social disease. Well, then take your medicine."

I have type I Bi-Polar disorder and it bothers me that a song by my favorite band infers that Bi-polar disorder is a "social disease" as though I have it because of the society I live in and not because of the way the chemicals in my brain work. Nobody on here has to agree with me, I am simply looking for some opinions on it.

Also, it's nice to be back on the forums, it's been a very long time.

jerosmith and aaron are right.people use society to blame for everything that is wrong.and he's pretty saying i've been there, done that when he says"i wrote the book on pain somehow i am still here to explain."i also get that when you been there and you try to tell someone not to do whatever, they don't listen.but i don't beleive that brent would mean anything insulting at all about actually being bi polar.so don't take it to heart.it's metaphorical.that's all.

I agree with Aaron that he is referring to people who blame everything and everyone else for their problems and take no responsibility for their own actions. What I get from the song is that he is saying I've been through a lot of crap and I'm still here, I don't think he is trying to be offensive to anyone who suffers from bipolar disorder.

? ok. ur thinking to hard about the song. the song is clearly about brent falling out of love with music. i have the CD/DVD and in the interview it says he wrote this song when he was falling out of love with music. dont be offended by the song it has nothing to do with people having that disorder it explains what brent is feeling.
