Meet and greet question

My question's to people that are attending the meet and greets and have received the e-mail with directions already. How long before the doors open do they tell you to be at the meeting place? (Minutes, approx. Not worried about the actual time since the show I'm attending starts later than most of them.)

    Thanks in advance :)

usually you wait out front about an hour before the doors open is when they take you into the venue for the meet and greet. you can always email artist arena and ask them them if they already have the info for you.

Ah, yeah.. I figured it would be about an hour before.. considering the early entry thing and all.

yup that's the way it was for my show back in october in houston.

ok, i am kind of freaking out right now. i was on the main shinedown website and there was someone saying that they are only able to either get early access to the floor area or get to do the meet and greet. What! I had better be able to do the meet and greet AND be able to get close to the stage too! there better be some kind of blocked off area specifically for those who spent big bucks on the platinum package. or they better do the meet and greet after the concert, because i want to be close to the stage and be able to do the meet and greet and get my prs guitar!

:/ That would be... not cool. Where are you seeing this? On the ticketing sites it says you get both... It would be unfair to offer either early entry OR a meet and greet when they specifically listed both items separately.

can someone who has a vip package post any info about their show as soon as possible in terms of early access and meet and greet? it will be greatly appreciated.

Are there that many shows with GA? Mine has actual seats (we got second row w/ Gold, Platinum was first row).

FWIW, I've had that happen in the past with other bands. It does suck.

Mine has a pit and seats... It's also starting at 6 PM instead of 5. (Mohegan Sun) I think if it's going to happen here, I'll choose the early entry. I really want to get some good pictures and I can't very well do that if I'm in the back of the pit.. as I have no real ability to move people out of my way without feeling guilty about it. lol.

Heh, you should come to the Boston one up here! We have all seats. :) That's why I figured they weren't doing pits, because the Comcast center can have a pit I think, but they're not having one. Fingers crossed this humidity goes away tho cause with the back open it creeps down to the covered pavillion too and can be miserable!
I got second row seats for Mass, and pit for Ct. No pit in mass for some reason. Which show are you attending?
No way! What seats? We're second row section B, uh I think 9&10 seats? For Mass. I'd hafta check. My cousin's going to the CT one, I think she has seats.

I got pit for CT.. and the gold VIP package. I mean, there's little to no reason that they can't have the meet and greet AND the early entry here... Considering the show starts later than everywhere else.

At least it's inside an arena. No need to worry about the humidity.

Haha, yeah, for sure.

FWIW, I had that problem with the recent Three Days grace show up here. We *did* end up getting into the pit before everyone else, but only because as soon as we got through the M&G we left the group and ran down lol. I don't think we were supposed to, but no one stopped us. FWIW, I left to get drinks and managed to make it all the way back to front row, and that was a full GA show in an arena. lol

I just hope the Meet and Greet isn't cutting it as close as everyone else is saying.. but it could also be because those venues are GA only. The doors probably open about an hour before the show.

I'm hoping the meet and greet is somewhere towards the front of the pit so they just let is right in through there without having to bolt back to the elevators and go through all of that... considering you have to get a pit wrist band.

If I remember right, the doors open at 4 and the show is gonna start at 5. So hopefully they will let the m&g start about an hour before the doors open, and then we will make a mad dash for the front once we have gotten our shirts. What I find weird is that the venues' site says doors open at 1 but I am pretty sure that is a typo.

I guess that's one thing to say for being a later tour date. Hopefully by the time it's our shows, we'll have more info. If that's true, that really sucks. I am hoping I'll be ok, but this is my first time at PNC arts center, and it's still sucky when they advertise BOTH! Hmm, isn't there some legal thing about truth in advertising???

I know the others start at 5 but our Live Nation promoter (Jim Koplik) said something about it having to start no earlier than 6 because it's at a casino during the middle of the week. He does a weekly show with one of the DJs from the radio station here, talking about concerts and stuff like that.

The way the venue usually works is... if these tours come through, we'd usually get the headliner plus one or two of the openers.

This is probably the first time that we're getting all of the bands without a truncated show. I remember when Crue Fest came through, we only got Motley Crue and Buckcherry. They cut off the rest of the bands.
http://www.shinedown.com/forums/we-have-to-choose-between-early-entry-a…

I think that they have their info wrong, at least i am hoping so. but there are options on my venues' site to get a meet and greet package, or just get early entry. so maybe their venue is doing the same thing and they are thrown off by that.
That was me who started that thread. I didn't get my info wrong, as many others have received similar messages and complained on the boards. Here is what the VIP email states "Due to the band’s schedule, the Meet & Greet will begin at 5:00 pm. Please note this is after the 4:00 pm door time. If you prefer to take advantage of Early Entry into the venue instead of attending the Meet & Greet, please arrive at the venue by 3:30 PM and form a separate line from the general public. Please do NOT wander off, as a representative will come to you shortly after this time to escort you into the venue. Do not arrive late, as late arrivals will have to enter with the rest of the general public."

I have 15,16,17,18 in sec 2! Have you got any notice about M&G instructions? I have not yet! Thats way too funny. See you there!
Haha, awesome. :) And no, I haven't. I was just hoping we wouldn't hafta be there too early cause we have plans in the morning, but doesn't sound like it will be a problem. Fingers crossed for nice cool temps and low humidity. ;)

Looks like I'm getting the early entry at this point, then.

Darn photographer in me. lol. But if I can't have both, I'm opting for getting better pictures... especially since I want to see all of the bands on the bill. (Chevelle, not so much.. Already saw them and wasn't overly impressed)

I guess one thing that can be done is to do what Pixie recommended. Get there early, buy one of the first 200 SoM CDs and meet the band after the show. That way you sorta get the best of both worlds. However, it would have been nice to have known this a few months ago as I think it was like $100 difference between Silver and Gold.

Yeah.. if you go to the main discussion forums you'll find someone who went through it last night. We VIPs will be at the back of the crowd. All they'd need to do is chain off a few feet from the stage until we get there and it would all be ok. I was hoping by now with all the complaints from so many people something would be said or done.

Wow, that is really stupid! I wonder how I am supposed to get my prs guitar? If they will hold onto it until after the show, I am definitely going straight to the floor.

Someone better do something.... I don't think the guys would want it to be this way... Maybe someone could mention it at the meet and greet? Just a thought.

I'm really thinking the guitars will be shipped to us. I can't imagine how it'd be handled at the show. I was hoping someone would have said something about it already, but seeing as nothing's been said also leads me to believe that no one has theirs yet.

Well, I wonder if they are going to present them like they are supposed to be presenting the YouTube winners' guitars. Hopefully we will find out some concrete info from a fellow person soon.

No, Zach was offering to sign any PRS guitar that anyone buys before going to their show. You needed to take a picture of yourself with the guitar and he email it to him and he would get you backsatge to sign your guitar. I thought that was so nice of him but it's got to be hard to babysit your guitar for the whole show!

Good luck! :D In my case it wouldn't really matter since I chose early entry... but for everyone else I'll have hope for something like that... but I don't think any venues care that much to go through the trouble. Never know, though.

agreed!! It would be nice if the front was railed a few feet back so we can get in, but I really dont see that happening. I'm not giving up hop though!
I wish it was for the fan club only but I don't know how many of us are going to justify that... regardless, I'll be on the railing. Or I'll try to, at least.. depending how many show up for early entry. I just hate that the pit there is so narrow and you pretty much have to be one of the first two people in to get that spot.

thats disappointing to hear that they are making you choose either early entry or M&G...had i know that when i purchased my ticket i would have picked a reserved ticket with the VIP package instead of the GA ticket....
I know that now, but again, there is nothing like the rail in the pit!! Just got to get there!!
Got a Q for you guys?
If there are 2 with VIp and one goes to the rail and 1 goes to the M&G could the one that is meeting them then go back and get on the rail that their buddy had and go do their M&G that way? That way it is a win win?

i was at the same show so i will answer....through the venue we were offered a vip package..it included access to a vip tent at the side of the stage, and vip parking...it was $15 per person...it was worth it..the view was good, it provided some shelter from the heat, wasnt over crowded and was the only place that you could buy liquor at this venue.
THANKS FOR ANSWERING, BUT I STILL HAVE A DIFFERENT SITUATION COMING UP,. They actually replied to my e-mail and said we wouldn't be getting both but now they're going to send me a free t-shirt and some other stuff. The best we can do at Mohegan Sun is to get an early entry to get a prime spot.. From where they let you in at, you pretty much have to fight from the back to the front.

I chose the early entry anyway.. but they probably won't let us in for the early entry until 4:30.
After seeing this on here I decided to email them again. They offered me the same thing.. a t shirt, some patches or something, and a membership kit-less shinedown nation membership. Better than nothing I suppose, so thank you for mentioning it on here.
It won't make up for not having both the meet and greet and early entry but at least they offered something.. some other places probably would have been like... oh, too bad. Not our problem.

Shinedown and Sevendust will make up for the rest.

Oh.. I thought that was the reasoning.. I looked up the Carnivore of Madness thing and it brought up some other radio station doing the same promotion and it said the BBQ started at 4 with the show starting at 5.. so I was kind of wondering.

I think it's amazing that Shinedown has got to be one of the most fan friendly bands out there and nothing is being done to please these fans. I'm sure someone in the organization is reading all of these posts and no one is addressing them. I wonder if they are going to do another live video chat so we can address these issues with them. I know in my business customer satisfaction goes a long way and in this economy we do all that we have to to make EVERY customer happy. I could never get away with charging someone a VIP charge for something and not delivering a VIP service to them. But like I said, I am happy with the seats that I am getting for the money I spent (with a nice guitar to boot), but if I had a general admission ticket and for the price I paid I wasn't able to get up front before everyone else, I would demand my money back.
NOW THATS RAMBLING!!!!
I really think that if people are choosing early entry over the M&G, then they should be reimbursed the difference between silver and gold VIP as that really is all the difference was. I'm sorry but a shirt really wouldn't make it up to me personally.

I dunno, it frustrates me, and I at least am in rangersuk boat and we actually have seats. This is soo disappointing.

I am going to the Holmdel, NJ show. I purchased the platinum tickets just so I could sit in the front row. I paid more than that for other shows just to sit up front (I'm addicted!).

And don't worry Abby, someone will be in our seats when we get there with the spilt beer and all!! I wish I could get one of my other friends to sit there while we're in the back.

I am so glad I have a reserved seat in the front row. I feel so sorry for everyone that has GA. I am however pissed that I'm going to miss the first and maybe second act.

Well I think this is awful. U have to choose whether u get in early or go for the meetngreet and get put way back in the crowd in the pit for the concert. Like I stated before. For the people that bought the Gold or Platinum there should be special places on the floor or seats just for those holders. We should not have to choose, thats why we paid the higher price for the tickets. The guys always say the fans come first, I dont think they thought this one out correctly. What A Shame, What A Shame.... oops thats done been taken right?

what do you mean you chose early entry and not getting both. Getting both what? Do you have M&G? Boy I am sorry I chose pit over seats at the casino. If we miss the 1st 2 bands we are definetly in the back!
I purchased the gold VIP package with the impression (like everyone else) that we would be getting both early entry and the meet and greet.

When they sent the e-mail with the VIP Gold info, I e-mailed them back with my name and number and all of that but also asked if the times were correct because our show does not start at 5 and that I didn't really want to miss any of the show.
I also asked if there was a chance of us getting both the meet and greet AND early entry since the show is starting later than the other ones, as the VIP Gold info e-mail says that the meet and greet would be starting right when the first band goes on. It's at the very bottom of the e-mail... almost can't see it if you're not really paying attention to it.

They replied saying that we would have to choose between the meet and greet or early entry because of a scheduling conflict but didn't actually SAY if the 3:30/4:30 time was correct for our show or not. (I don't think they know how Mohegan Sun works for mid-week concerts, quite honestly. But I wouldn't be surprised if we got an e-mail in a few days saying the times had been changed. Silently hoping they're going to let us have both. 8))

They also asked me if I still wanted the meet and greet, or would I prefer to have the early entry. I e-mailed back and said I wanted the early entry over the meet and greet.. for obvious reasons.

So, I'm down for only the early entry, at this point.. only because, for me, it feels like a waste to be in the back of the pit.. especially if it's for a band you really like.

(Off topic, but Mayhem Fest was awesome last night.. especially being on the barricade almost at the center.)

it was VERY unorganized. They opened the doors (the whole show was general admission ) and we waited a full 30 minutes before we got taken back to the busses to meet the band. we missed 10 years & chevelle. dont get me wrong...my wife was EXTATIC ( the m&g was a birthday surprise), but we did have decent standing area with the EXTRA vip tent we paid extra for.
Do you mean more money than you paid for the M&G tix? You can still pay extra for a tent area on the day of the show? Do the fees ever end?
i was at the same show so i will answer....through the venue we were offered a vip package..it included access to a vip tent at the side of the stage, and vip parking...it was $15 per person...it was worth it..the view was good, it provided some shelter from the heat, wasnt over crowded and was the only place that you could buy liquor at this venue.
THANKS FOR ANSWERING, BUT I STILL HAVE A DIFFERENT SITUATION COMING UP,. MY EVENT IS AT A CASINO(INDOORS), AND THE FLOOR IS PIT. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE EARLY ENTRY AFTER THE M& G, BUT FROM WHAT I SEE HERE I GUESS NOT. NO PRIME STANDING FOR US!
They actually replied to my e-mail and said we wouldn't be getting both but now they're going to send me a free t-shirt and some other stuff. The best we can do at Mohegan Sun is to get an early entry to get a prime spot.. From where they let you in at, you pretty much have to fight from the back to the front.

I chose the early entry anyway.. but they probably won't let us in for the early entry until 4:30.

agreed..the sc show was very unorganized and frustrating! But eventually things worked out! Seemed like we waited forever..but it could have been because it was so damn HOT!! either way it was totally worth it!!
our doors were at 4 and the show started exactly at 5
Has anyone checked in about how they handled this at the Knoxville show yet?

our doors were at 4 and the show started exactly at 5

Well, if our doors really are at 5 there is no reason for us to be there at 3:30 for early entry.. but I guess I'll be there then. At any rate, it IS a casino. There's plenty to do.

Ok all vip's hopefully i can answer some questions. Ok if you pick early entry jake comes to get you at 3:30 and brings you in,then he comes back out at 4:30 to get the people who picked m & g. He has a list of names and just checks to see if you are on the list, he didnt ask anyone for I.D. and yes you do miss 10 years set which my fam. who went with me said are the second best perf. of the night.by the way jake is one of the coolest m f'ers around

IME, they only need name/id of the person who paid, and they know how many VIP tix u paid for. Im gonna ask when I send them my info tho, just in case.

I'm not really sure.. Probably everyone in your party since one ticket = one person allowed to go. They didn't make that very clear... But then again, they might just want their names, and your cell since you'll all be together.

But I know the times are definitely wrong. (According to Mohegan Sun's website and WCCC)

Hopefully we can get some answers about this thing soon.. I'm thinking they'll send a revised email.. otherwise it's going to mess everyone up that doesn't even know about the other venues' schedules.

I received my e-mail for the Mohegan Sun show.. it lists the same times as the other e-mails have been. I'm going to e-mail them back and ask them about the times since it doesn't seem right.. lol.

We just went for the cheap seats, I am just excited to go to the show. I was our tickets are just GA but I don't think they have a pit?!?! It in Philly. I hope all of you get what you paid for!!!!

Cheryl

Well, I wonder if they are going to present them like they are supposed to be presenting the YouTube winners' guitars. Hopefully we will find out some concrete info from a fellow person soon.
Wow, that is really stupid! I wonder how I am supposed to get my prs guitar? If they will hold onto it until after the show, I am definitely going straight to the floor.
I'm really thinking the guitars will be shipped to us. I can't imagine how it'd be handled at the show. I was hoping someone would have said something about it already, but seeing as nothing's been said also leads me to believe that no one has theirs yet.

Someone better do something.... I don't think the guys would want it to be this way... Maybe someone could mention it at the meet and greet? Just a thought.

Yeah.. if you go to the main discussion forums you'll find someone who went through it last night. We VIPs will be at the back of the crowd. All they'd need to do is chain off a few feet from the stage until we get there and it would all be ok. I was hoping by now with all the complaints from so many people something would be said or done.

Looks like I'm getting the early entry at this point, then.

Darn photographer in me. lol. But if I can't have both, I'm opting for getting better pictures... especially since I want to see all of the bands on the bill. (Chevelle, not so much.. Already saw them and wasn't overly impressed)
Fingers crossed for nice cool temps and low humidity. ;)
http://www.shinedown.com/forums/we-have-to-choose-between-early-entry-a…

If I remember right, the doors open at 4 and the show is gonna start at 5. So hopefully they will let the m&g start about an hour before the doors open, and then we will make a mad dash for the front once we have gotten our shirts. What I find weird is that the venues' site says doors open at 1 but I am pretty sure that is a typo.

FWIW, I left to get drinks and managed to make it all the way back to front row, and that was a full GA show in an arena. lol
I got second row seats for Mass, and pit for Ct. No pit in mass for some reason. Which show are you attending?
No way! What seats? We're second row section B, uh I think 9&10 seats? For Mass. I'd hafta check. My cousin's going to the CT one, I think she has seats.

Mine has a pit and seats... It's also starting at 6 PM instead of 5. (Mohegan Sun) I think if it's going to happen here, I'll choose the early entry. I really want to get some good pictures and I can't very well do that if I'm in the back of the pit.. as I have no real ability to move people out of my way without feeling guilty about it. lol.

Are there that many shows with GA? Mine has actual seats (we got second row w/ Gold, Platinum was first row).

FWIW, I've had that happen in the past with other bands. It does suck.

can someone who has a vip package post any info about their show as soon as possible in terms of early access and meet and greet? it will be greatly appreciated.

:/ That would be... not cool. Where are you seeing this? On the ticketing sites it says you get both... It would be unfair to offer either early entry OR a meet and greet when they specifically listed both items separately.

ok, i am kind of freaking out right now. i was on the main shinedown website and there was someone saying that they are only able to either get early access to the floor area or get to do the meet and greet. What! I had better be able to do the meet and greet AND be able to get close to the stage too! there better be some kind of blocked off area specifically for those who spent big bucks on the platinum package. or they better do the meet and greet after the concert, because i want to be close to the stage and be able to do the meet and greet and get my prs guitar!

yup that's the way it was for my show back in october in houston.

Ah, yeah.. I figured it would be about an hour before.. considering the early entry thing and all.

usually you wait out front about an hour before the doors open is when they take you into the venue for the meet and greet. you can always email artist arena and ask them them if they already have the info for you.

I know the e-mails come a week before the show.. but that's kind of short notice. :/

yea I have been kind of worried about that too,I didnt get any email or anything anyone wit any info please post
