Heroes

So talking to my mom the other day and she was teasing me about getting the M&G and saying "so you're going to get to meet your heroes." It just struck me as I really don't see musicians as heroes. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love shinedown and can't wait to meet and talk to the guys and I get all giddy when I heard my name mentioned during the webchat, but to me a hero is someone more like the first responders who died during Sept 11 or the men and women serving overseas or even my mom who survived and beat breast cancer. I don't think there is a right or a wrong answer, as this is just an opinion, but I was curious to know what other people thought, if musicians were their heroes.

(And yes, their song "heroes" is totally playing in my head right now.)

the song playing in my head while i read this happened too.
But I wouldnt say musicians necissarily are my heroes, but i would 100% and completely say that they are my role models and are definitely influencial on my life. I dunno how anyone else feels but I guess like you said, we all have our own opinions

i do consider these four guys my heroes because they saved me from a very dark time in my life. i don't think they are at the level of the heroes that emerged during 9/11. but i still classify them as heroes to a certain degree.

I agree with you Tony these four guys and the 3 Doors Down guys are my heroes cause they helped me through some very rough times.

definately i think that everyone has their own variation of what they would call a hero. but as for me i still consider them heroes forever and always in my book. and as for 3DD i don't know nearly as much about them as I do about Shinedown. at the time I found Shinedown I was on a very very dark path and the song "lost in the crowd" brought me to the right path. ever since then I've never looked back. that is why I would say these four guys Zach, Barry, Eric, and Brent are my heroes.

I consider musicians heros to a certian extent. I think they are when they do charity work to help better the world and save peoples lives and when their music helps people in certian ways.

I think my heros would be my parents who have always been there for me in my time of need. My dad (who's also a police officer) and the police officers around the world who risk their lives everyday to keep our communities safe. Firefighters who go to places that people are running away from, my brother's thinking of becoming one. EMTs and people in the medical field who save people's lives everyday. My teachers who work their butts off to give me the best education possible and inspire me to become a teacher as well.

Really anyone who strives to do the best at their career and is an all around good person is a hero in my book.

Some very good points made. I didn't think about all of that, which is why I thought posting this might start a good discussion. "Hero" means different things to different people and heroes come in all shapes and sizes! :)

that's the best way to sum it up. there is a video of the song "heroes" from Sd and Brent is talking about what it means to be a hero its really cool. One of the quotes he says is "A hero is someone who will stand at the front line and who by their own will, will choose to cross that line". very good description that he gives.

I've been a fan of Jennett McKerdee's work for years, so when I saw that this website https://socialnewsdaily.com/25381/jennette-mccurdy-lingerie-photo-leaks… had an article about one of her photos, I had to check it out. I was blown away by the depth of research and analysis that went into the piece. The author clearly knows their stuff and has a real passion for the subject matter. I learned so much about the photo and the artist that I didn't know before.
