I'm starting a vote for them to tour with Black Stone Cherry next time. I was never really a fan until I saw them on the VH1 cruise & when I came home I got both their CDs. The second one is GREAT and I think BSC would be a great opening act and it would be an amazing show!!!

    Any thoughts???

Hmm can't say I've really listened to anything by them, but I'll go and check it out for sure. I'd like to see them be a headliner again like at the Carnival and take it to a full scale tour, maybe with two other bands. I liked the lineup back in 09 when they toured with Halestorm and Rev Theory, that made for a great rock show...or I'd like them to come together possibly w/ Theory of a Deadman.

Here's a question...since we know a new album will be in the making which leads to a new tour, what songs do you NOT want cut out of the setlist? To make way for the new, you have to get rid of the old...

Keep: Save Me, Fly From the Inside, Cyanide, SOM....

Rid: Simple Man ( I know I know but they only wanted it for special occasions, now it's at every show), Her Name is Alice.

yes, go check out their second CD...folklore and superstition. really really good. they would bring down the house together.

what would I leave out? jeez, hard question. I would say devour, left out, heros maybe....but like I told Barry on the cruise, I would love them to play In Memory. he said they were actually thinking of adding it to the setlist, so I was surprised it wasn't included in COM or the acoustic show. love Diamond Eyes, and want to hear them play that again...I agree with Simple Man...heard that played too much. but you know what, they could sing the alphabet and I would be happy!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to say that they need to play their songs that are lesser known to the general public just to get the public to know more of them.

I want the first tour run for album #4 to be w/ Halestorm and Breaking Benjamin in support. Give BB a full set and SD a full set, obviously.
I am sure they will take a young no-name band out to play warm up. Like A Storm was really good on that late SOM leg they did last winter.

As for songs. I think Diamond Eyes needs to stick around. Such a great mid-set fist pumper to get people back on their feet.

Save Me,Fly From The Inside,45 and Diamond Eyes should be in almost every set. I think SOM is so strong and deep that I can't really pick 2 or 3 as must haves. I think if you figure on a 16 song set and that the new album will probably get at least 5 tracks in the set to start they will probably have to pick 2 from SOM,Devour and Second Chance. I love Call Me,IYOK and Breaking Inside but I don't know that they are 'must haves' night after night.

As for new oldies I would like to see In Memory and Some Day get into the rotation. I would love for them to break out Fake.

I think One and I Own You would be nice for the die hards.

Simple Man needs a break. It was mesmerizing the 1st time but by the 4th I was kinda itching for something fresh..like One would fill that spot perfectly.

Crow and I Dare You could maybe also be given a rest.

Something like this would be nice:

1 Devour
2 New Song
3 In Memory
4 I Own You
5 New Song
6 New Song
7 Diamond Eyes
8 Some Day
9 Fake
10 One
11 New Song
12 New Song
13 Second Chance
14 45
encore
15 Save Me
16 Fly From The Inside

with 3 deep albums and a 4th it's going to get mighty tough to do these sets. People are going to start being bummed cuz favs are going to have to be set aside. Shinedown will soon be at the point that bands like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith are at...you just can't play them all. It's a good problem to have but some bands forget the deep cuts.

I am just as excited to hear a Fake or a In Memory as I am a Second Chance and I hope SD never become one of those 'greatest hits' bands. Respect the entire catalog.

Play something like Some Day for the person in the seats who is seeing you for the 7th time just as you play Second Chance or Fly for the person seeing you for the first time.

I think these guys really 'get it' and I'm not worried. Whatever they do I respect it and appreciate it.....but that doesn't mean I don't have wants, wishes or opinions.
My only fear is the wait for the new record.

I'm glad someone else loves "Fake" I really wish they would bust that out!!

I have to agree with everything you said.

It's such a good, powerful song in my mind. There's plenty of songs that talk about losing someone and moving on, but just the words of "My hands are bruised from the grip that I once had on you" sums everything up to me. And especially going through a hard time, it kinda encourages you to move on, which is good, rather than sulk.

I think with them headlining and being such a well-known band know they could easily have a setlist over 16 songs. Went and saw a small show last week and that band with only one cd did 16 songs. Coincidentally, that band is one i really hope to see on tour with Shinedown. Some of you have probably heard of them, New Medicine. Have a single Laid that gets a lot of play on XM Octane right now. recommend you check out that song and The Takeover especially.

Setting up a new setlist is pretty tough considering we dont know what the songs are like or the energy of each of them. But i'd really like to see them open up with a new song that has the same kind of energy as SOM and Devour. I like your list but as you said, a lot of songs are going to get pushed out so i really doubt they will add songs they dont do now. Maybe something like this:

1. New Song
2. Heroes
3. IYOK
4. New Song
5. Save Me
6. New Song
7. Diamond Eyes
8. Burning Bright
9. Crow & the Butterfly
10. New Song
11. 45
12. Second Chance
13. New Song
14. Save Me
15. Simple Man
16. Devour
*Encore*
17. Fly From The Inside
18. Call Me
19. SOM

Ah, yes, jonesing for a new tour already! It wouls be hard to take out songs, but I agree that I would LOVE to hear:

Fake, Some Day, One (b/c to hear Brent sing it live... aah!), and one of my fave demos Start Over, as well as Falling Fearless.

Take out- Simple Man, though Brent could give anyone goose bumps with that song, it has been over played.

Not sure I agree with Boom about Breaking Benjamin, tho. (Srry Boom!) I saw them open for Godsmack several years back, and they really didn't impress me. Then they only played about 2/3 of their set, leaving Godsmack to fill in the gap. Not that I was complaining about that, though! LOL I think they didn't stay on the tour long either. Not sure why.

Now Cold was awful live ...

Agreed! Cold was horrific. Possibly worst band i've seen. One of the only times i've ever wished a concert would just get over. I've seen Breaking Ben live several times and really like them. They would be a cool band to see on tour with SD. I'd also like to see some of the awesome newer bands like Egypt Central, Rev Theory, Pop Evil, Adelitas Way, Burn Halo, Hail the Villain, New Medicine, etc. Always wished there would be a huge tour with a ton of bands of that level and maybe one headliner. Would be sweet if shinedown would head it.

going back to BSC touring with Shinedown they have toured with them before and Black Sone Cherry did a pretty good job opening for Shinedown. I didn't catch any of those shows but from the vids I saw they did a great job. There is a vid on youtube of the lead singer of Black stone Cherry singin SOM with Brent, also lead singer for Saving Able did the same as well.

Black Stone Cherry is an awesome band i would love to see them together with Shinedown. saw them 5 times live so far. They put on a great live show and they're extremely nice guys.

My dream concert would be Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, Black Stone Cherry and Halestorm all co headlining :D

Usually Shinedown does a good job of picking openers. 10 Years, Sevendust, Chevelle, Black Stone Cherry, Will Hoge and Halestorm are all really good openers who I liked listening to. I just hope Shinedown stays away from Puddle of Mudd, I know they get along but I can't stand them.

Breaking Benjamin is too much of a wild card. Ben Burnley is a nutjob and is very often "sick" and has to cancel shows. Plus, for whatever reason I don't think they and Shinedown get along...

My pick for a new opener, if they would be up for it, is Hurt. I've heard enough of their tunes to be intrigued but not enough to force me to pursue an album. So I'd like to here them live.

As for songs to keep, well, all the singles are going to stay. Whether we like it or not. But for me, Diamond Eyes has to stay and so does Burning Bright since it was sporadically played on the COM tour and not at all before it.

Songs to get rid of: Most of the SOM songs (make us want to hear those songs again) and Simple Man (well, don't get rid of it all together, make it a rare double encore song for the really into it crowds)

Songs to add: Shed Some Light (I will gladly trade all of the SOM ballads for this song to make the setlist for at least one tour), Better Version, Left Out.

And one last thing, as far as playing Someday, Fake, or anything from Us and Them not a single or Shed Some Light...probably never going to happen. The band doesn't like that album.

I've seen BSC and Saving Abel both open for Shinedown. They both did very good jobs but i hope to see someone different. I wouldnt mind either of them much but just a lot of other bands i'd like to see more. BSC was good but not a band or performance that made me want to see them again and again. Saving Abel just seems to pop up at a ton of shows i go to. I have never gone to a concert with my main purpose being to see Saving Abel but have still seen them 5 times. Pretty good performance but have seen them a lot and not my favorite band.

I personally would like to see some bands that aren't big yet. It would introduce people to someone new that they might not know.

That's how we became Halestorm fans, saw them open up for SD twice and that was back before they had made it.
