Im pretty bummed out today. Today is the first and only time in three years that I wont be on stage with my brothers and family in Shinedown. As some of you may or may not know I am at home in SC rehabbing a back injury I sustained on stage during the Carnival of Madness tour. I have however enlisted the talents and services of my good friend and brother Corey Lowery. Corey has founded and been the bass player in such bands as Stereomud, Dark New Day, Stuck Mojo, and most recently Eye Empire. (not to mention the older brother of Clint Lowery of Sevendust). There is NO ONE else that I trust to not only play bass, but put on a kick ass rock show!!! I apologize to any fans that I may let down, but this is imperative to my future health that I take this time. I will however be back next week for our shows starting in Nashville, TN! I cant wait to see you all there! In the meantime, please show Cory all the love and support you would show me!!! See you all soon!

First of all, we wish you the speediest recovery. While you are trying to relax and get better, I've got a favor to ask. My son in law Matt died in February of this year. My daughter and I live in Denver, Colorado, and saw that Shinedown will be performing in Arizona on 9/17/10, which would have been his 28th birthday. We will be there in remembrance of him. Here is the favor: Could you ask if the band plays 'Simple Man' that they mention Matt, or dedicate the song to him? It would mean the world to us. Thank you so much (now, rest and take it easy....) Hope you get better Eric, I seen you guys play at Liberty Memorial at Rockfest 2003. I'm a huge fan and recently recovering from stage 4 breast cancer. Chemo suxs and i will never put in my body again. i'm gonna try more medicinal ways like diet and vitamins this time around. Like Brent i'm dependant on oxycotin and oxycodone. i'm really glad to hear that his son changed his outlook. Me too was messin with cocaine at the time of gettin diagnosed with cancer. i'm young too, but anyways keep up with it, like i said love your music. Tonight driving from Joplin,MO to Springdale,AR i cried to your 3rd cd because of all the emotional and physical pain i've gone through these past 2 years and all i could do was just play it over and over til i got home. See if u guys can make it to Arkansas sometime to play i will definitely be there... Best wishes and get better soon

I'll be at X-Fest in Dayton on Sunday, Sep. 12 rockin' it out with Shinedown headlining the festival. You're my fave band at the moment and sorry to hear you'll not be part of the show, but wish you well and a speedy recovery. I have no doubt, Corey will rock the stage!!!

I think your fans completely understand. I know I do. Just worry about getting your back taken care of, Shinedown needs you to be healthy. Rest and get better soon Eric.

Your good health is important to the band E, so do what is necessary. Alot of ass to kick in the next few years. Met all of you in Philly, courtesy of a birthday gift from my wife and daughter, and was blown away at the authenticity of the band. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Dont you worry. Anyone who is a real fan and who really loves you would NEVER want you to put your health in jeopardy by performing while you're injured! I hope you get better quickly and i wish you all the best!!! :) Love, Sarah

I'm sorry to hear you are hurt Eric, but oh my God what a great choice in Corey. I wish I could be there to support him. I have loved him since we were kids. He won't dissapoint you. Get well soon. Love you, Tina

Your health is the priority - don't apologize for taking care of yourself! We all want you to get better so others can enjoy the amazing tour, like we did. Oh, wait ... when you were in Houston and you signed those stinky shoes after the concert ... that wasn't a contributing factor to your back problem, were they?!? I asked you if you were sure you wanted to sign them ... maybe that was a bad decision lol. Anyway, get better soon and good luck on the remainder of your tour!
