ok ChoasJunkie I understand where you are coming from and you can and so can everyone else continue to love Brent. I dont know about him lipsyncing but to compare him to Milli Vanilli is outlandish. If Brent is having to lipsync then it is for a sound reason and the difference between him and MV is at least the lipsynced voice is Brent even if on a track. MV was never even their real voice, it was two other gentleman who didnt have a "showbiz" look but had the sound. As many tours as they do and as hard as Brent sings and rocks out if he didnt take a break occasionally with a track then he would have no voice at all.
Dont be disappointed guys its the business as it is, I know of many singers who refused to ever use a track in concert and now some of them have no voice at all because they blew out their chords.
I love Shinedown, but you're the idiot if you think Brent isn't lip-syncing some songs. I don't find it to be a big negative; there's no way anyone could play as many concerts as Shinedown does without auto tune going for some parts of the show. CHAOS_JUNKIE is right. Diamond Eyes (chorus), Her Name is Alice (chorus), and I Dare You are definitely guilty of this. I've seen this band 14 times. I'll continue to see them every time I get the chance. Do I wish he didn't do it? Of course. Do I understand why he does? Of course. He wouldn't do it unless he had to. They're entertainers, and that's what Brent does: he entertains. But you're the one blind to the truth if you think he's never done this. Nearly half of all bands do. Shinedown's no different.
Playback to support
Playback to support enhancemennts made in the studio are fine. i.e. you used an organ and you don' have a keys players, MAYBE some backing vocals but there are two never evers for playback
1. the lead vocal
2. the lead guitar
That's masking a lack of talent and I won't pay to watch that.

And actually many acts do 200 shows a year on a live vocal. You're wrong, this is not a necessity, its a crutch for weakness.
It seems that when they release a live video, it is the record company that does th editing, so the soound doesn't seem to match the movements. But lip syncing- no way. That is Brent's voicce, no doubt. I've seen them twice, on the COM tour and the A&E tour. They were awesome. 'Nuff said.

well i must admit i have seen a song that his voice didnt match up ,but however he is still amazing in my opinion on everything he does..and unlike milli vanilli and ashely,Brent actually does have more than one talent...brent is a songwriter something those people no nothing about....anyway dont hate!
Brent lip-sanc a ton of choruses during the COM tour. Watch the videos and when the audio sounds like its in a cave and it sounds EXACTLY like the album..its lip-sanc.

It's a pretty sad shame, too, because I still love Zach, Barry and Eric. I spent a lot of money and time on this band just for Brent to take advantage of it. They'll continue lying about what really goes on until they get caught one day like Milli Vanilli or Ashlee Simpson...

You have got to be kidding...lipsyncing...no way. That voice is his...I've listened to regular video without backup. It's amazing how he can belt out music...he's the real deal.

I believe it is the Diamond Eyes that is not fully Brent. If you watch the Carnival of Madness version a couple times his mouth is delayed from the track, but it could just be the audio. As Inked points out, the backtrack is there, but other than that, Brent is amazing and one of the best I've heard/seen. I'm having w/ drawls since 2012 can't come soon enough.
there will always be haters out there....we just need to be the bigger person. I am not saying that what they say can't be hurtful or untrue, but Brent knows what he has is a gift. One that so many of us love. Keep looking of the bright side of things, live on the postive. We (Shinedown) will always be on top!!!!
Brent does NOT lipsync! At the A & E concert in DC, Brent had to sing in a lower register for some songs b/c of an allergic reaction he had made his throat raw. DEFINITELY NOT lip syncing! He still sounded GOOOOD!! He is AMAZING!!!

I think that the song that is at question is diamond eyes (boom lay boom) because the part when it says boom lay boom lay boom is a back track, if i remember correctly. other than that, nothing is lipsynced. when they sang this at Carnival, I remember Brent not having the mic near his mouth during that part, but i didn't look to see if Eric or Zach was singing the boom lay boom parts. so i might be wrong about it being a back track. it could be a part the others sing.
It's all so ridiculous. I've been only a few feet from Brent while he was singing at a few shows, and that's ALL BRENT!!!

Outta the multitude of times I've seen SD live, I've never even considered them to stoop so low. On the contrary, Brent sings a lot of stuff accapella. Hell, I don't even think they use backing tracks. (which are what most people incorrectly believe to be 'lip synching'.)
